Dorothy Howard was the most gracious, kind, helpful, and elegant lady that I have ever known. She was a very dear friend that will truly be missed by me and all of the men and women that have ever met and known her. She always had a smile on her face and was always willing to assist and help when ever she was called upon to do so.
Her love of irises, plants, and people shown in everything she did. She was President of the Tulsa Area Iris Society, show chairman for the Tulsa shows, an Emeritus Judge for the American Iris Society, a member on the Board of Directors of the American Iris Society, a member on the AIS Foundation Board and also held several offices in Region 22 of the American Iris Society.
She was a mentor to many current American Iris Society judges and was always called upon when questions arose concerning irises. She was very willing to share her love in irises with many people in the plants she gave to us and in the advice and encouragement she gave to us on growing and showing the irises.

When attending judging schools or meetings at a hotel she was always getting lost and we all had to assist her in finding her way back to her room or where she was going.
I remember her telling me about a time when she was attending an American Iris Society Convention she asked a question of the desk clerk and he kept referring to her by her name and when she walked away from the desk she asked the person with her how the clerk knew her name and she was told that she was wearing her name tag and that he knew her name from that.
Dorothy loved her irises, daylilies, playing bridge and all of the friends that she made along her road in life. She will truly be remembered and thought of by myself and all her friends. WE LOVE YOU DOROTHY AND THANK YOU FOR BEING MY FRIEND.
